Parks

From Gambier Island to Egmont, the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) manages and maintains a variety of parks, trails, beach accesses, playgrounds, sports fields and bicycle/walking paths so that residents and visitors can keep healthy and active and explore the great outdoors on the Sunshine Coast.

Dogs are permitted on all SCRD parks and trails, however they must be on a leash, except in off leash parks. Visit dogs in parks for more information.

If you see anything of concern that would require immediate attention, please contact parks services staff at 604-885-6802 or by email at parks@scrd.ca.

If you need to report an animal injury, sighting, or conflict, please call the 24-hour Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line at 1-877-952-7277 or #7277 by cell.

The SCRD is not responsible for the removal of invasive plant species. To report an invasive plant species, call 250-871-5117 (please leave a message, they will call you back). For information on where to dispose of invasive plant species, visit our green waste webpage.

Operation of Coopers Green Hall – Updated, February 2024

The SCRD is requesting expressions of interest from parties for options to oversee the operation of Coopers Green Hall in Halfmoon Bay. The SCRD has owned and operated the Hall since 1985 and until recently was planning to build a new hall at Cooper Green Park. In March of 2023 a decision was made by the SCRD Board of Directors to build a new hall at Connor Park instead of Cooper Green Park.

Currently the SCRD wishes to explore leasing the Hall to a qualified interested party for purposes aligned with its permitted zoned usage for a period of five years, subject to possible extension.

This popular waterfront park that looks across the Strait of Georgia has a large grassy treed area ideal for family picnics. During the summer you can play beach volleyball on the sandy court. The park also includes a barbeque pit, washroom facilities, swimming beach and a public recreational boat launch. It is also a popular location for divers.

There is a designated parking area that is available for vehicles and trailers for those planning to launch boats. Further information on the load limit and permitted uses of the boat ramp can be found here.

Further information on how to book the hall can be found on the community halls webpage.
