GIBSONS & DISTRICT FIRE PROTECTION COMMISSION
Established by SCRD bylaw No. 448, the Gibsons & District Fire Protection Commission is responsible for policy direction on fire protection services and for making recommendations on Fire Commission Bylaws for the Gibsons/West Howe Sound Fire Protection Local Service Area. The Commission serves in a liaison capacity to provide information and professional advice to review the Gibsons Fire Protection Strategic Plan and five-year financial plan.

Back yard burning is only allowed between October 15 and April 15 inclusive in Area E (Elphinstone) and F (West Howe Sound) areas within the Gibsons and District Fire Protection District. The Town of Gibsons does not allow backyard burning.
Campfires (0.5 x 0.5 metres max) are currently allowed, until banned by local fire departments during high risk periods.
Residents can self-haul and drop off green waste at no charge at the following locations:
• Town of Gibsons Public Works Yard at 915 Henry Road, Gibsons
• Pender Harbour Transfer Station at 5545 Garden Bay Road, Pender Harbour.
• Salish Soils at 5646 schetxwen Road, Sechelt.
