Maintenance Closures

Aquatic facilities require annual maintenance to extend the life of the facilities and to minimize unexpected closures. Annual maintenance closures at aquatic facilities are scheduled so that there is always at least one pool open and available.

Hot Water Issues at Sechelt Aquatic Centre
If you have recently visited the facility, you will have noticed posters in the change rooms alerting you to some issues we are currently experiencing with the hot water system. We are finding that at times, after being turned on, some of our showers are running hot before cooling.

Staff are working to troubleshoot this issue but due to the size of the water system at the Sechelt Aquatic Centre, it is going to take time to fix. Here is what we are asking of you:

  • When you are using a change room, please turn on the showers and test the water before entering. Our experience has been that the water will be hot at the beginning but will cool within several seconds to a level that will allow you to comfortably shower.

Staff are constantly monitoring shower temperatures and will close off any that are unfit for use. Should you experience hotter than normal shower temperatures, we ask that you please notify staff as soon as possible.

Signage will remain in the change rooms as a reminder and our staff will also be available should you have any questions or concerns before entering the change rooms. Thank you for your patience as we work through these issues and please stay tuned right here on the website for updates.
