Curbside Recycling collection
According to the SCRD's 2014 waste composition study, residential curbside garbage contained an average of 25% recyclable items such as paper, plastic and metal containers. Recycling is important because it reduces the use of raw materials and saves valuable landfill space.
The SCRD is exploring the implementation of curbside recycling collection service for residences in Electoral Areas B - Halfmoon Bay, D - Roberts Creek, E - Elphinstone and F - West Howe Sound who currently receive garbage and food waste collection.
A questionnaire was requested by the SCRD Board as per Resolution 069/20 Recommendation No. 4 to inform the Board of public interest in receiving and paying for curbside recycling collection services.
As such, the SCRD developed a Curbside Recycling Questionnaire that opened on January 18, 2021 and closed on February 26, 2021 for residents of SCRD Electoral Areas B, D, E and F.
