chapman creek water treatment planT
The SCRD supplies water to approximately 23,000 residents on the Sunshine Coast, with over 85% of this water coming from Chapman Creek.
The Chapman Creek Water Treatment Plant was commissioned in March 2004, supplying safe and excellent quality water to Sunshine Coast residents and visitors.
Every year, students and members of the public are invited to tour the Water Treatment Plant. Find out where your drinking water comes from and see what it takes to provide safe, clean drinking water to your taps. Contact us for more information on the next tour.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I am on a well, and I think that there may be contaminants in my water. What do I do?
A: The SCRD does not manage private wells. Residents can have their well water tested by Vancouver Coastal Health.
Q: Why does my water appear milky or look like alka seltzer?
A: This is due to trapped air and is sometimes cause by a water shut down or use of a fire hydrant in the area.
