In 1986 the Sechelt Nation became an independent self-governing body, a unique third order of the government of Canada. The Sechelt Indian Government District holds jurisdiction over its lands and exercises the authority to provide services and education for its residents.

Director alvina paul

Alvina Paul was appointed to the SCRD Board on May 27, 2019.

Alvina is the daughter of Lucy Joe and Anthony Paul. She has been married to Ryan Paul for more than 28 years and together they have raised three children, Jamel, Tyrell and Maryah.

She comes from a banking background, having worked 16 years at three different financial institutions. Alvina has also worked for the shíshálh Nation in a variety of roles such as administrative assistant in Public Works/SIGD and she was the Career and Employment training coordinator.
