Water Wise Gardening and Rain Barrels

Water Wise Gardening English Lavender

Outdoor watering on the Sunshine Coast causes local water demand to double during the dry summer months. By reducing your garden’s thirst through the planting of both water-wise and drought-tolerant plant/grass species, you can do your part so we can preserve our precious water resources. The Sunshine Coast Regional District has developed a Waterwise Plant Guide to aid residents in transforming their garden to water efficient landscapes.

Waterwise plants can both be beautiful and fragrant. Plants such English Lavender, Cushion Spurge, Russian Sage, and Ornamental Plum are just a few of the plants which are featured in the plant guide. The plant guide is available at the SCRD Field Road Office, and can be downloaded here (please click save as; may be slow to open for some connections - 8MB).
