Dog Control

 SCRD Dog Control services are offered in the following areas:

  • Halfmoon Bay
  • Roberts Creek
  • Elphinstone
  • West Howe Sound 
  • Sechelt Indian Government District

    The Dog Control Officer's role is to educate the public and ensure compliance with the appropriate SCRD bylaws, as well as the equivalent in the Sechelt Indian Government District.

PRICES DOUBLE AS OF FEBRUARY 1, 2010

As per SCRD Bylaw No. 376, 1994, all dogs in Area B (Halfmoon Bay) , D (Roberts Creek), E (Elphinstone, F (West Howe Sound) and Sechelt Indian Government District require dog licences renewed every calendar year.

Spayed or Neutered   $30.00 each as of February 1, 2010

                                
Unspayed or
Unneutered Dogs       $70.00 each as of February   1, 2010


** Seniors purchasing a license for their dog receive a 50% discount (ID required)
(Spaying or neutering certificate may be required.  If you have your dog spayed or neutered during the licensing year the difference in licence fee will be refunded.  Bring your receipt for the license and the spaying or neutering certificate to the SCRD for a refund.)

Dog Licenses are available at the following locations:

 - SCRD Administration Office, 1975 Field Road, Sechelt
 - Town of Gibsons, 474 South Fletcher, Gibsons
 - From the Dog Control Officer      

Impounded Dogs:

Any dog found running at large within the SCRD will be impounded and taken to Cedar Creek Kennels, located at 1853 Sunshine Coast Highway, Gibsons.  Their contact number is 604-886-8568.

Complaints:

The Dog Control Officer responds to complaints from the public regarding dogs that are running free and/or aggressive. To report a dog running at large or to file a complaint, please call 604-885-6817
