Strategic Plan
Introduction:
The Board recognizes the need to develop a strategic plan to guide the direction of the organization and to consolidate the many elements of planning that are done independently, by different departments (e.g., recreational facilities and park development). It also acknowledges the importance of many initiatives; however, the Board decided that five key strategic directions required more attention at this time.
Vision:
The Sunshine Coast is a community of communities creating a sustainable way of life through a collaborative decision making process. We are committed to an enhanced natural context; local control over local resources; a vibrant economy; and an enriched cultural fabric.
The vision will be realized through

- Public awareness and involvement
- Responsive and effective government
- Quality recreational and cultural amenities
- Economic well being
- Healthy and diverse communities
- Collaborative leadership
2010-2011 Strategic Plan
The Strategic Plan focuses on three key strategic directions and identifies three overarching principles that will guide decisions within the organization.
- To protect our water resources as the population increases and as we address the impacts of climate change on present and future generations.
- To work towards zero waste on the Sunshine Coast.
- To have collaborative regional planning so that communities are well planned and designed in a manner that achieves their cultural, social and environmental goals.
The principles that will influence the actions taken to achieve these goals are collaborative leadership, social and environmental sustainability, and financial sustainability.
