Greenshores: The Wave of the Future in Shoreline Protection

In late 2005, the SCRD agreed to participate in the provincial Greenshores Project with Roberts Creek as a case study. The Greenshores Project has completed the Greenshores Study Report for Roberts Creek in the spring of 2007.

A Roberts Creek Greenshores Advisory Committee (see Terms of Reference) has been created to examine if and how the SCRD should proceed with the proposed bylaws (Draft Bylaw 310.118, Draft Bylaw 375.7, Draft Development Permit Areas) or other voluntary approaches. The Committee will meet for 6 months, culminating in a public meeting to be held in Fall 2008, to review the recommendations of the Committee before making its formal recommendations to the SCRD Board.

Applying Greenshores principles can help protect the environment and property while reducing shoreline erosion. We encourage you to find out more if you own waterfront property anywhere on the Sunshine Coast.
