    The following materials are accepted at G.R.I.P.S. in Pender Harbour:

    • Magazines, books, catalogues, telephone books & glossy paper
    • Office paper (shredded and non) & manila envelopes
    • Glass bottles
    • Aluminum & tin cans (clean)
    • Mixed transparent and non transparent plastics (including milk jugs)
    • Leftover household paint (Paint & Product Care Member)
    • Refundable beverage containers (clean, caps off)

    The non-profit Garbage and Recycling In Pender Society (GRIPS) operates a staffed recycling depot in the Pender Harbour area.

    This depot receives funding support from the Sunshine Coast Regional District due to the non-profit status. A bottle depot for residents in the Pender Harbour area is also at this site.

    Recycle Depot hours are M, T, TH, F, SAT from 8:30am to 4:00pm; closed on WED, SUN 10:00am to 2:00pm

    Bottle Depot hours are M, T, TH, F, SAT from 8:30am to 3:30pm; closed on WED, SUN 10:00am to 1:50pm

    Pender Harbour Landfill - 5545 Garden Bay Rd.

    The following materials are accepted at Pender Harbour Landfill:

  • SCRD Recycling in Sechelt

    SCRD Recycling - Sechelt - Tsain Ko Mall

    The residential recycle depot at the Tsain Ko Mall in Sechelt, is operated by the SCRD in cooperation with the Sechelt Indian Government District.

    Following are accepted at this depot:

    • Cardboard (flattened)
    • Newspaper & inserts
    • Mixed paper (ledger/magazines/books)
    • Aluminum & tin cans (clean)
    • Plastic (rigid plastic and soft plastic bags)
    • Glass containers (clean, lids off)
    • Refundable beverage containers (clean, caps off)
    • Batteries and cell phones

    The depot is staffed Monday to Friday, during peak daytime hours and is accessible 24/7.

NOTE: Please do not leave your recycling in bags or your newspapers tied with string, and cooperate with the depot attendants -- they are trying hard to eliminate contamination to ensure collected materials can be recycled!

Bottle Returns - CAPS OFF Depots

CAPS OFF hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Bottle depots are provided through Encorp Pacific (Canada), and are part of a provincially mandated stewardship program for beverage containers (SCRD has no involvement with the beverage container program).

Refunds for beverage containers can also be obtained from the store where you purchased them.

The Recycling Council of British Columbia (RCBC) operates an information hotline from 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday. This is a great resource for people with questions about product reuse and recycling.
