Eastbourne Water System

The Eastbourne Water System is located on the eastern portion of Keats Island, nestled in Howe Sound between the mainland town of Gibsons and Bowen Island. This system supplies water to many of the island's residents, the majority of whom are seasonal inhabitants, greatly increasing the demand for water in the summer months.

The Eastbourne Water System consists of a series of wells, 10 reservoirs and a water treatment plant. Depending on the source of the water, some of the reservoirs store raw water and others treated water. The water treatment plant was constructed in 2003 and water quality is tested on a monthly basis. Monthly water demand for the Eastbourne system varies from from 1.7-3.9 million liters.
