Clean Up Coupons

SCRD residential garbage collection customers - Coupons are printed on the annual utility bill. The coupon is valid for one free load at the Sechelt Landfill. Check your coupon for instructions, conditions and material restrictions.

Pender Harbour residences - Coupons are mailed in April. The coupon is valid for one free load at the Pender Harbour Transfer Station. Check your coupon for instructions, conditions and material restrictions.

Residents of the District of Sechelt and Town of Gibsons should contact their municipal offices to inquire about clean up programs.

Pitch-In Canada

Pitch-In Canada is an annual one-week campaign which provides an opportunity for people across Canada to host community clean up events to collect litter and recyclables around their communities.

2017 Pitch-In Canada Information

The 50th annual Pitch-In Canada event takes place from April 22 - 29, 2017.

Registration:

SCRD residents can register a community clean up event on the Pitch-In Canada website.

Garbage Disposal:

The SCRD’s Good Samaritan Program will pay the disposal fees for garbage collected from your clean-up delivered to either the Sechelt Landfill or Pender Harbour Transfer Station. Instructions are:

  1. Send a copy of your Pitch-In registration, before and after photos, the number of garbage bags, the date the bags will be delivered and to which site (Sechelt or Pender Harbour) to infrastructure@scrd.ca.
  2. Bring a copy of your email reply to the site on the day the garbage bags are delivered.

Recyclables:

Sorted recyclable items can be dropped off for free at one of the three recycling depots on the Sunshine Coast. Please visit RecycleBC for accepted materials.

Islands Clean Up Event

The SCRD provides an annual clean up event for island residents. The event is typically held in July and August.

Annual Backroad Trash Bash

This fun event brings together residents, community groups, and local and provincial government employees for a one day volunteer cleanup blitz. On the event day, volunteers are assigned a cleanup site, they head out and load up, drop the collected materials off at the temporary transfer station or at SCRD landfills, then sit back and enjoy a free lunch and enter to win a prize!
