Climate Action To-Go KitsClimate Action To-Go Kit

Borrow a Kit today!

Check out a kit at the Gibsons and District Public Library and at the Sechelt Public Library and your local reading rooms on the Sunshine Coast.

The Climate Action To-Go Kits are a fun and easy way to learn about what you can do at home to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Each kit contains tools, resources and activities for you to:

  • Measure electricity use from household appliances with the Kill-A-Watt Meter
  • Discover air leaks in your home using the Thermal Leak Detector
  • Test out the ultra-efficient LED light bulb
  • See how efficient your showerhead is with an easy test
  • Learn more about local solutions to climate change with a documentary film and variety of books.

Why?

Across the region we consume enough energy and fossil fuels to emit more than 300,000 tonnes of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions each year. That’s equal to the annual emissions from 59,000 passenger vehicles. Our transportation, building heating and lighting, and waste generation choices have a big impact on the environment and on our wallets. It is estimated that we collectively spend nearly $100 Million dollars on energy and fuel each year. While we know it will take a huge shift in behaviour, technology and policy to achieve substantial GHG reductions, there are many actions we can do at home to improve efficiency and reduce our impact.
